Singapore, Taiwan and Philippines: plan from the real origin

Residence history, export versus arrival deadlines, quarantine alternatives and upcoming application changes.

Updated: 2026-10-30

A departure airport is only the starting point

Choose the real departure region in the destination page, then check the full residence and travel history in each rule. Singapore Schedule I/II and Taiwan’s rabies-free route require qualifying continuous residence. A short stop in Japan or the UK does not turn an animal from another risk region into a qualifying import. Hawaii and Guam are separately recognised by Taiwan; mainland US uses the other-origin branch. Mainland China has an additional Taiwan project/re-entry procedure.

Work back from the correct event

Singapore’s standard II/III blood sample is 90 days to 12 months before export; parasite treatment is 2–7 days before export, and examination/certificate within seven days. Taiwan’s ordinary sample is 90 days to one year before entry; the latest rabies dose is 30 days to one year before entry even if labelled for three years. For the Philippines, four months of age and the first-vaccine 14-day wait are checked at SPSIC application, so reaching the age only at arrival is too late.

Quarantine exemptions require an approved branch

Singapore II requires less than five days between owner/pet arrival and more than six months at the same address for personal exemption; otherwise arrange approved home quarantine. Singapore III normally needs at least 30 days at AQC. Taiwan’s ordinary other-origin path plans seven days; a long-wait exemption combines 180-day sampling with early application or official report verification. These are alternatives, not separate simultaneous quarantine tasks. Confirm approval and documents before committing to flights.

Confirm policy conflicts and the 2027 change

Singapore’s FAQ and linked protocols differ on sampling immediately after a continuous booster; use the standard 28-day path unless AVS confirms the exception. Philippine pages differ on extra vaccines and three-year rabies validity; follow the approved SPSIC and obtain BAI clarification. Its antibody change applies to applications from 1 January 2027, with detailed test conditions still to be confirmed. Taiwan stops accepting the old permit version from the same date. No destination’s animal-health approval substitutes for airline carriage acceptance.
