Present the official international veterinary certificate (CVI). The clinical examination must be within 10 days before CVI issuance. An official pet passport can substitute only with all required health information and the exporting authority’s official veterinarian signature and stamp before departure.

Dogs must be microchipped under DGSG Resolution 273 of 27 August 2018. The passport-substitution pathway must include the chip information.

Internal and external parasite treatments must fall within 15 days before CVI issuance or official passport endorsement, with dates and products recorded. For dogs, the internal treatment must contain praziquantel.

Keep rabies vaccination current; a first dose must precede entry by at least 21 days. Under-three-month puppies/kittens need official age and rabies-exposure declarations. The dog section also allows a certified rabies-free-origin exception; do not assume it without the official certificate.

Dogs from countries not declared free of leishmaniasis before WOAH require a negative immune-response test (IFAT, ELISA or direct agglutination), or agent detection by molecular methods, within 60 days before entry. Confirm the applicable origin classification and test with the official veterinarian.

A dog or cat entering with its owner does not need a separate MGAP entry authorisation. Present the animal and required health documents at the MGAP border office.
For cargo arrival at Carrasco Airport, notify MGAP at least 72 working hours before entry and send scanned documents. Coordinate working-day calculation and clearance with the airport office.
