Obtain the Animal Movement Permit, valid 30 days from issue according to APHIS. The current national FAQ requires application no later than five business days before arrival. Submit passport copy, full itinerary, veterinary certificate and rabies proof as English documents or English translations, in PDFs under 5 MB; one application covers up to three animals.

Dogs/cats must be at least 15 weeks old; the current FAQ also requires full rabies immunisation. Indoor, service and emotional-support animals are not exempt from the destination’s import conditions and permit.

For the US export pathway, a USDA-accredited veterinarian issues the health certificate and APHIS endorses it; digital endorsement is accepted and the printed endorsed certificate accompanies the pet. Confirm examination timing and the current certificate declarations with IETA; an EU passport alone is not the veterinary certificate.

Applicable conditions
The currently linked US model specifies a 21-day isolation period after first vaccination or revaccination following expiry. The current national FAQ describes initial and booster doses and a three-week interval without exposure. Have IETA and the certifying veterinarian confirm the actual sequence; this checklist does not resolve those different statements into a guaranteed entry date.
