All US pets, including Hawaii and Guam, require a BAF import permit and post-entry quarantine. The September 2024 national notice places the US in Group B: minimum 30 days at the official facility, no home quarantine. Contact the facility at least six to eight weeks ahead to arrange space; an import permit alone does not guarantee a kennel. Confirm booking/payment before arranging arrival.
Selected adult, non-pregnant personal pets shipped as manifest air cargo. Breeding, cabin carriage, excess-baggage carriage and sea travel are outside this branch; carrier acceptance and permit-specific conditions still need confirmation.
Use an implanted ISO-compatible microchip and record it on every relevant document. The August 2026 US certificate requires the animal to be more than six months old at scheduled shipment; exactly six months does not satisfy that wording. This branch covers non-pregnant pets only.

For US Group B pets, rabies vaccine must be given according to the manufacturer at least 30 days before export and remain valid until quarantine release. The August 2026 US model requires RNATT at least 0.5 IU/ml, 180–335 days before export, valid 365 days from sampling. Use that specific window rather than the 2024 general notice’s 180–365-day window, and attach the laboratory report.

Within 30 days before scheduled shipment, give two internal and two external treatments at least 14 days apart, with each second treatment within four days before shipment. Internal products cover nematodes/cestodes; external products kill ticks, lice and fleas. Follow manufacturer directions and record dates/products.

Dogs require negative Ehrlichia canis IFAT using a sample within 45 days before export, and negative Leishmania infantum IFAT or ELISA using a sample within 30 days before export. These tests are not cat requirements.

Dogs need Leptospira interrogans var canicola MAT sampled within 30 days before export, negative as less than 50% agglutination at 1:100 dilution. If positive in that interval, a second MAT at least 14 days after the first must be negative or show no increase over the first titer. The veterinarian must interpret and document the branch; the US model does not substitute vaccination for this test.

Dogs need negative Babesia canis/gibsoni results: ELISA or indirect fluorescent antibody test from a sample within 30 days before export; alternatively two PCR samples 30 days apart, with the second within 16 days before export. The 16-day last-PCR limit is from the August 2026 US model.

Dogs need negative Brucella canis testing within 30 days before shipment by slide/tube agglutination or CPAg-AGID. In addition, the dog must be neutered or have had no natural mating/artificial insemination during the previous 45 days. Neutering does not itself remove the test in the US model.

Have the accredited veterinarian perform the final examination within four days before shipment, showing no infectious/contagious signs or external parasites and fitness to travel, then obtain APHIS endorsement. Digital endorsement is accepted. Attach treatment/vaccination records and reports from government or USDA-recognised laboratories; carry the printed endorsed complete certificate.

Complete the US model’s New World Screwworm declaration: during the preceding 30 days no visits to actual affected US zones, Mexican states, Caribbean islands or South American countries; no potentially infested lesions/wounds/abrasions; and no recent superficial surgery in that interval. A dog with any lesion, wound or superficial tissue damage detected within four days before export is ineligible. The veterinarian must verify actual affected areas; do not label the whole US as infested.

Use an IATA-standard crate, one animal per crate under the 2024 notice. On departure day, the owner/agent seals it using an official seal supplied by the accredited veterinarian. Quarantine arrivals enter via Nadi or Nausori under a confirmed booking; any transhipment must use an approved arrangement. Confirm prohibited breed/cross status with BAF before booking; the certificate requires that certification but does not itself list breeds.
