Eritrea Pet Import Requirements
Historical draft-law assessment and recent official rabies information obtained; current personal-pet entry protocol remains unresolved.
WHO’s 2016 Eritrea evaluation lists the Animal Health and Animal Quarantine proclamations as drafts. That historical list does not establish their status today. The Ministry of Information’s 1 October 2025 report describes national rabies-control and vaccination work, not requirements for foreign pets. Neither source supplies a confirmed personal dog/cat permit, accepted certificate or timing, chip/titer condition, arrival inspection or isolation period. Ethiopia’s pet rules, Eritrean plant-quarantine law and commercial relocation estimates do not establish Eritrean pet entry conditions. Confirm current instructions and the actual operating port with Eritrea’s competent veterinary authority before certification.
Rules depend on the route, animal and operating carrier. Confirm your own journey with the relevant authority and airline.
