Djibouti Pet Import Requirements

Veterinary authority and a 1948 historical import-control text read; a current household-pet protocol remains unresolved.

The agriculture page concerns local dog/cat care and certificates, animal-origin food imports and livestock exports, which do not establish personal-pet entry. The official journal also preserves Order 640 of 22 June 1948: its historical live-animal clauses cover veterinary control, healthy-origin documentation and examination where documents are absent. Export passes are a separate direction. This is colonial-era archival text, not demonstrated current 2026 implementation. Later references identify Order 1120 of 1 August 1956 regulating live animals, but its full text and present applicability were not obtained. Neither the archive nor these references establishes a current permit exemption, vaccine window or fixed quarantine period. Obtain current dog/cat instructions and accepted source documents from the destination veterinary authority; no confirmed checklist is generated. Article 38 of the official 2011 Customs Code defines prohibited/restricted goods and missing valid documents; it does not itself declare every live animal absolutely banned. Article 10 of the 2026 Finance Law lists tax exemptions for cattle, sheep/goats, poultry and camels, not a universal dog/cat exemption. Its electronic customs measures concern economic operators and are not established here as a personal-pet application procedure. Current dog/cat veterinary entry conditions still require confirmation.

Rules depend on the route, animal and operating carrier. Confirm your own journey with the relevant authority and airline.
