South African Airways Pet Policy

Selected official pet-carriage conditions; route and service coverage is shown below.

Eligibility and route restrictions

Dog / Cat · In the cabin / Accompanied hold baggage / Separate cargo service

No ordinary pets in the cabin. International travel to/from South Africa, including transfers, requires cargo with a formal air waybill. Domestic dogs/cats may travel as accompanied hold baggage with original rabies/vaccination records, delivered at least 90 minutes ahead; large crates require cargo.

Selected official conditions only, for the operating airline and the direction, aircraft, service and dates stated in each rule. A mode tab may contain a prohibition or unresolved condition; it does not grant carriage. Obtain actual pet space approval and origin/transit/destination clearance separately. Assistance animals, commercial movement and unlisted services need separate assessment.

Applicable conditions

Domestic text lists 1 m × 1 m / 23 kg and ZAR 300 including tax, while also referring to applicable excess-baggage fees. The third dimension and whether 23 kg includes the crate are unclear. Confirm current complete dimensions, combined weight and fee; do not fill the omissions by assumption.
