Dogs and cats travel as accompanied baggage in the aircraft hold, subject to available space. The cabin exceptions for small fish, turtles and insects do not apply to dogs or cats.

Animals under four months, pregnant, unfit for flying or with heart/respiratory disease are not accepted. Listed short-nosed dogs are refused from May 1 through October 31. Check the official breed list; dogs must have the rabies vaccination required by Japanese law within the past year.

One dog or cat per rigid, lockable, ventilated cage with room to stand, sit, lie and turn. Use a securely fitted drip-bottle water dispenser; bowls are refused. Wheels must be removed or locked. Oversize cages need advance confirmation; rental-cage sizes are not universal maxima.

The listed fee is JPY 6,600 including tax per cage per flight segment. Check the pet at the baggage counter at least 30 minutes before departure, pay the fee and submit the consent/release form; arrive early because handling takes longer.
